Additional income during the pandemic and KSK membership
We keep getting worried questions about whether KSK membership will be terminated by jobs that are subject to social security contributions. The KSK website states:
"One way out can be to take up dependent employment that is subject to social security contributions (...). There is therefore no termination of insurance under the KSVG, but only exemption from insurance in health and long-term care insurance if these contributions have already been withheld and paid by the employer.
If the employment ends, the health and long-term care insurance takes effect again via the KSK. Even taking on marginal employment – a so-called 450 euro job or mini-job – or a second self-employed non-artistic/non-journalistic activity with a profit of up to 5,400 euros per year does not result in a loss of artists’ social security, i.e. does not lead to the insurance being terminated. "
This is stated in the third social protection package.
