Anyone who is already worried about the timely submission of their tax documents for 2021 due to Corona can breathe a sigh of relief, because the corresponding deadlines were extended again as part of the fourth Corona Tax Assistance Act. Taxpayers who submit their declaration themselves have until September 30, 2022 to submit their documents to the responsible tax office. If the tax return is prepared by a tax consultant or wage tax association, the deadline is even extended to June 30, 2023. Anyone who is having problems with the new deadlines can apply for a justified extension of the deadline by four to six additional weeks in good time. If you simply let the deadlines elapse, you risk a surcharge of 0.25 % per month on the fixed tax (at least EUR 25).
