ifo climate index VAW February 2023

Unfortunately, the general ifo climate index for the German economy is not quite as positive for the event industry.

Although the sixth-largest branch of the economy expects business to increase in the coming months, indicators for employment, price development, sales development and general business development continue to point downwards.

The reason for this will be the persistent reluctance to consume that has also been observed in other sectors of the economy, but also the lack of exhibitors and visitors from abroad, especially for trade fairs, which still has to do with Corona. In addition, the trend towards technically less complex digital events is continuing in the business context.

The isdv eV continues to worry about the negative development of sales, prices and employees. Only together will we be able to reverse the trend on these points. This includes the self-employed as well as medium-sized and large companies. Higher salaries mean more attractive jobs, higher prices and daily rates mean more sales. Everything together secures the employees of the economic sector and that is important in order to be able to master the upcoming challenges of the transformation of the event industry in the areas of sustainability and new event formats.
